During my half of the Pet Partner training, one thing that was recommended as a great way to train Jacoby to be a therapy cat was to take him to places like Petco and Petsmart and just wander around and interact with people and other animals. So we’ve been doing that, and it’s a ton of fun.
Our first “official” Petco practice run was to the store in Quincy, because it’s the easiest to get to on the T.
Jacoby had to check out the cat food selection first.
That’s a lot of food for a little cat!
Then we checked out the cat beds. Someone had left a bunch of them on the floor.
Of course, Jake needed to check out the fresh cat beds.
Let it never be said that Jake isn’t in touch with this feminine side.
After the cat beds, we moved on to the cat trees…
…which, of course, Jake also had to thoroughly test.
Finally, we went full circle and looked at the
cat treats mice. While we were there, we met some children; one little boy who was about 3 years old built a little wall around Jake using the little tubs of loose cat toys. I was filming video at the time, and I haven’t had a chance to edit it yet, but it was really cute.
Every time we go out together, we have an interesting time. He enjoys it as much as I do.
