As I’ve said before, we often call Angel our Dancing Frog” because when she thinks no one is watching, she’s a brave, feisty little cat, playing with things in the sunlight that only she can see.
In honour of her birthday yesterday, here’s a cartoon about that.

I got this from the NAR email list today:
This pretty girl is Sheba, a 5 year old, spayed Abyssinian who came to us, along with her doggy companion, a female Rottweiler mix, when her owner had a baby. She has been full of bluster (hissing and growling) as she’s been adjusting, but I just totally ignored her noise, stuck my hand in and petted her and she’s a total love! She head butts and asks for pets and loves having her cheeks scratched. Yes, she’s still hissy and growly while I’m doing it, but she doesn’t swat or bite; it’s almost like she’s talking.
She’s really gorgeous and I do think she will settle down with all the noise nonsense once she feels comfortable. We are out of space in the shelter and are trying to find rescue placements for any of the kitties that have a shot at going somewhere. If you think that you can help Sheba, please let me know as soon as possible. If you know of another group that might be able to help her, please feel free to pass along her and my information.

Oy. I’ll never understand how people can just get rid of their loved animals because they have a baby…I couldn’t imagine giving Jacoby away just because we added a baby. Not only would Jake be an excellent protector and friend to the child growing up, but just think how great a kid’s childhood would be having a kitty BFF? I feel sorry for Sheba…and for the baby her humans thought couldn’t live with her.
Don’t forget, June is Adopt an Awesome Friend Month, so spread the word about lovely Sheba!
