This week’s Photo Hunt subject is “Ink.”
I found this tattoo picure on Pinterest while looking for other people’s Aby tattoos…I think it’s marvelous.
And of course there’s my friend Sanna-Leena’s Aby tattoo…
And the tattoo I saw at a TICA show…
The idea I have is semi-realistic, but not photographic – something of a cross between the two shown above. I need to find a good artist to do this…I may have to go back to San Francisco to get it! I have a scar on my forearm where a mole was removed, so that’s where I’d like this to go. I’m planning it for next year, when I turn 50.
I love your design! I bet it will wind up looking really fabulous!

I’ve been thinking about my next tattoo since before Finnegan had passed away. I knew it would be a Day of the Dead cat…. still working on formulating it completely, but it will likely be close to the first photo in this gallery (except this is a chihuahua). My love of abys (not that Norman and Gus weren’t awesome….) and Mexico and especially the Day of the Dead holiday will be all combined into one. Probably this fall, after I’m done diving for the summer and early enough so it has time to heal before I go back to Cozumel.

The top Aby tattoo is mine! I was surprised to see it on the post! It is in memory of the seven senior Abys I adopted and lost from illness and old age!. I got this over my heart so I can look at it and remember all the special Abys I rescued who made my life so happy!!

You definitely have the right idea in sticking with a line drawing — I can tell you from recent personal experience that getting the right color on a ruddy Aby is NOT easy due to that ticked fur, plus the coat always has shiny highlights. If those are missing, they don’t have that “sleek” look. I had a hard time of it with paint and I’m not sure it could be done with opaque inks. — Tanka
