Aby-a-Day – 8 April: “I would rather sleep in a bathroom than in another hotel” (Silly Cinema Cat Show Sunday)

Back in November, Björn and I went to a show in Finland with Logan. A lot happened on that trip, about which I will post more later, but the funniest thing was Logan’s reaction to the hotel bathroom in Helsinki.

Specifically, the heated bathroom floor.

loganbathroomC06975

He loved it!

loganbathroomC06994

He could not believe the floor was warm. He rolled and rolled on it endlessly.

loganbathroomC06998

Best thing ever!

When we couldn’t find Logan anywhere else in the room, we knew he had to be there on the bathroom floor. He even slept in there instead of on the bed or the chair!

loganbathroomC07007

Oops, time for a groom!

And here are a couple of videos I took of Logan enjoying the bathroom as well (just click on them to view them in a new window).

We haven’t been to a hotel with a heated floor again since then, but it’s always the first thing Logan looks for when we go to a new hotel.

Aby-a-Day – 21 April: Good to the last drop

As you saw yesterday, Jacoby and Björn shared a chicken salad sandwich when we went to visit the cats yesterday.

jakesandwichIMG_4021 1

And by “share,” I mean “Jake demanded to have some and wasn’t about to take no for an answer.”

jakesandwichIMG_4022 1

Semantics, I know.

jakesandwichIMG_4024

But even after the sandwich was eaten, Jake refused to believe it was really gone.

jakesandwichIMG_4027

I mean, he really played the denial card to the utmost.

jakesandwichIMG_4030 1

Jake was determined not to miss a morsel.

jakesandwichIMG_4032 1

It’s kind of interesting how well designed those plastic sandwich holders are. It’s like they were designed with the Abyssinian head in mind…

jakesandwichIMG_4033

It’s almost as though the sandwich box makers thought to themselves, “We need to make a box that securely holds a sandwich…and also fits an Aby’s head without any undue bending of the ears. Yeah, I’m sure that was their primary consideration.

Aby-a-Day – 20 April: Wordless Wednesday (“Is that a sandwich? Can I have it?”)

Aby-a-Day – 11 February: Angel’s spa day

On Sunday, I decided to give Angel a bath.

angelbathC04558

The second I shut the bathroom door with her inside, she knew something was up.

angelbathC04554

She hasn’t had a bath in a very long time…at least two years (and probably more like four or five). Her fur was starting to look and feel a little greasy in a way that Jacoby’s fur never does.

angelbathC04548

Angel’s spa day started off with a mani-pedi, and then a good Furmination. I actually got this Furminator with an “eject button” as a free gift from Blog Paws, and I have to say, it’s much better than the non-ejecting model.

angelbathC04542

Don’t worry, Angel. Your hair won’t go to waste. I have plans to make Jake a Trump wig out of it. It’s just the right colour!

angelbathC04566

Then, I put her into the tub…she wasn’t thrilled with that. I have to say, though, having sliding glass doors on the bathtub really makes bathing cats a lot easier!

angelbathC04586

See? She can’t escape!

angelbathC04570

No matter how hard she tries…

angelbathC04572

…she can’t get the doors open.

angelbathC04579

It really makes a difference. I can bathe a cat without any help. It’s nice. When we move, we’ll be back to shower curtains…but we’ll also have a hand-held shower head, so rinsing will be easier. It’s a trade-off I can accept.

angelbathC04594

Finally it was time to dry off.

angelbathC04605

I usually blow-dry Jake, but if I tried that with Angel she would freak out.

angelbathC04619

So with her, it’s towel dry, lick, and shake.

angelbathC04642

Angel, doesn’t it feel good to be all clean and sparkly?

angelbathC04633

Er…I’ll ask you again once you’re all dry.

Aby-a-Day – December 14: Getting Ready (Miniature Monday)

Mini-Jake loves to help me get ready in the morning!

minijakebjdbathroom1

He comes into the bathroom with me and helps me put on my make up.

minijakebjdbathroom4

The nicest thing about his help is…he doesn’t actually get in my way and knock things over the way the real Jacoby does!

Aby-a-Day – August 24: Giants in the land of miniatures (Miniature Monday)

Thanks, tangentially, to the very missed Catsparella, I’ve fallen in love with Tony Moly beauty products.

minijakebjdbathroom2

A lot of their products are packaged in cute little fruit-shaped packages. I thought it would be fun to pose the Russian ball-jointed Jacoby doll with some of my favourites. Here he is with my Apple Hand Cream and my Peach Lip Balm.

minijakebjdbathroom3

Here’s the Jake doll on my Tangerine Hand Cream. Cats may hate citrus, but…well, this is an exception.

Aby-a-Day – July 5: Togetherness

I’m never alone in the bathroom. Ever.

jakemorningIMG_8243

One reason, at least in the morning, is that Jacoby has suddenly decided that he doesn’t want to eat in his house the way he’s been doing for years.

jakemorningIMG_8244

Nope, now he wants to eat with me.

jakemorningIMG_8246

In the bathroom.

jakemorningIMG_8247

While I’m getting ready for work.

jakemorningIMG_8249

And of course, I don’t mind the company but…when Jake isn’t eating, he’s a little bit…oh, what’s the word?

jakemorningIMG_8250

Clingy? Needy? No…that’s not quite it. Let’s just say he’s extremely “interactive” and leave it at that.

jakemorningIMG_8251

He’s actually acquired a new nickname lately: Rivningskula, which is Swedish for “wrecking ball.” He seems to be perfecting his skill of knocking things off counters with a vengeance.

jakemorningIMG_8256

I guess it’s my own fault…I should have been telling him to “stop that, Jake” and not, “Jake…knock it off!”
