Do you hate mornings?
Alfred is definitely not a fan.
I caught him NOT getting out of bed the other morning.
Freddy’s face is a whole mood. I get it, Freddy.
Good news, everyone! Last Wednesday, I got my first Covid vaccination (#teampfizer)! However, it also kicked my butt for a few days; today is the first day my arm doesn’t feel like I was hit by a stick. So, here: have some random Hipstasnaps taken around the house. First we have Alfred and Izaak cuddled up next to Jacoby on my leg.
It’s interesting to see the pair-ups that occur amongst the cats. Dashiell and Alfred hang out together quite a bit.
So do Angel and Zak. Sometimes, it’s Angel’s choice…
…other times, not so much.
I wonder if I should be concerned about what Dash and Freddy are plotting…
Not quite sure what’s going on here. Moving on…
Lorelai looking at me hopefully. She always wants to go outside to run.
This was taken today. Zak was looking particularly smexy this afternoon.
This is how I wake up most mornings. Izaak is usually involved, and then it’s either Alfred, Lorelai and/or Dashiell. I tried to take a selfie one morning…but it did not go well. The front camera, even on an iPhone 11 Pro, is really not that great.
So I had Björn take the photos with the back camera.
So, okay, not technically selfies…but credit for intent. And I absolutely adore the way Zak tries to hold my hand.
Isn’t that adorable?
Me, it’s usually a cat.
Or two.
Usually, it’s Alfred and Dashiell.
Many mornings I waked up with my arm around Freddy, like he’s a stuffed animal.
Dash likes to purr at me, bump his head on my hand, and pat my face with his soft little hands.
Unfortunately, both these boys are drooly purrers.
Still, if you have to wake up, I can’t think of a better way to do it.
Oh, and if you’re wondering where Izaak is, he’s on my legs, under the comforters, licking the insides of my knees.
Dashiell loves to pat my face and purr when I am in bed in the morning.
He pats my face with one paw, although I haven’t been able to capture it with my camera. Yet. (Please forgive my face…I just woke up, eh?)
But there’s more to it than that…
…here’s Angel on my pillow, leaning on my head. I have stereophonic purring between the pair of them! I just wish Dash wouldn’t drool when he purrs.
The other day, I went into the bedroom for something, and I discovered all the boys in a pile on the middle of the bed.
I joked that there was a sausage party going on in our bedroom.
Then Alfred started to…move.
Freddy, I don’t need to see any sausages..!
Completely non-plussed, Freddy carried on with his grooming. I love the expressions on the other two boys’ faces.
Also, can we all just take a moment to admire Freddy’s grabby hands action?
Izaak was the first cat who befriended Dashiell when he first arrived, and they both eat all their meals together in our bedroom.
As such, these two boys have a very special bond. I was walking past the bedroom yesterday and saw these two snuggled up together.
It wasn’t after a meal or anything…they were just hanging out together on the bed.
They are so cute together…and this is way easier to get photos of than when they’re chasing each other through the house at top speed!
When I read, I like to lie on the bed. And I usually end up with a lot of company. Izaak and Dashiell are almost always with me, and Alfred and Lorelai join us most of the time.
And then there’s Angel.
Angel comes and joins us every so often, but she doesn’t just nap quietly.
No…she tromps around the bed, kneading and purring.
It’s cute, and it’s sweet she wants to join us…but it is somewhat annoying.
Then, just as suddenly as she appeared…she is gone.
Look at Freddy’s face! He is so clearing thinking, “Good riddance”!
Sometimes, the cats like to nap on our bed during the day. The two main bed nappers are Izaak and Alfred…
…But lately, Angel has also been napping on our bed.
She seems to prefer being up by our pillows, whereas the boys like to sleep in the middle of the bed.
It’s really cute.
Sometimes, she kind of buries herself under the comforter.
It’s okay, Angel…go ahead and go to sleep.
The funniest, cutest thing happened this morning.
Izaak got inside Björn’s duvet cover and was trying to get to me for a cuddle. He got his head through the hand hole…and then got stuck.
Which is funny, because I always thought that if a cat could get his head through a hole, the rest of the body would fit, too. Apparently, not so much.
I had to make a video of him for Björn, who was making his breakfast and couldn’t come to see Zak in the duvet. I thought you all would like to see it, too.
Dashiell and Izaak eat together in our bedroom. Breakfast, chicken neck snacktime, and dinner, those two always dine together. This is because, for whatever reason, Dash doesn’t try to steal Zak’s food (the way Alfred or Lorelai would), and since Zak only eats raw, he won’t try to eat Dash’s meal.
This is one of the reasons this pair are such fast friends. When the other three cats are done eating, and I open the bedroom up, I often find them cuddling together, sometimes on our bed, and sometimes in this fuzzy pink cat bed we won at a cat show.
It’s pretty girly. We thought it might be good for Rory, but she never sleeps in there. Angel does sometimes, but it’s mainly Zak and Dash who nap in that bed. The bed also has the white blanket that was in Zak’s crate when he came here from Poland, so that may be part of the attraction.
Who says boys can’t rock the pink?
Izaak and Dashiell spend a lot of time in the bedroom, since they eat their meals and chicken necks in there. And after they finish, they snuggle under the comforters.
Zak generally naps on top of the covers (he prefers to sleep under the covers when humans are there.
Dash likes to sleep under the comforters, which is easy since we have the Scandinavian double duvet system.
And Dash is so damn cute when he comes out from underneath.
I mean, just look!
What’s funny is, Jacoby used to like to sleep under the covers like that, too. It’s kind of nice.
Lorelai loves to bury herself under our duvets.
And Izaak loves to attack the moving lump under the duvet.
It’s so funny to watch him stalk the lump.
I really should have made a video of this…it was so funny watching Zak try to predict where the lump would go next.
“HA! Gotcha!”
“Wait, what?”
Alfred comes to try to help. Spoiler alert: He isn’t helpful.
By the time Dashiell shows up, Rory has admitted defeat and popped up from under the duvet.
Is it just me, or does Zak look disappointed?
