This is starting to be a regular thing.
Angel’s napping in a bed…
…and Izaak decides he just has to be there, too.
But look at Angel’s body language.
She seems totes okay with his intrusion!
It’s kind of funny, because she’s never really been much of a social cuddler. She did sleep with Jacoby when he was young, but that stopped as he matured. Of course Singapuras never take no for an answer, so maybe she’s just given up. Himbs doin a heckin assimilate. No resistance. So much futile.
The other evening there was a pretty serious cuddle puddle going on at the end of the sofa involving Dashiell, Izaak and Lorelai. The whole his was pretty adorable.
But the absolute cutest thing was Dash’s leg over Zak’s back.
I mean, isn’t it just the sweetest thing?
At least, it is until you realise that Dash was probably sleeping on the bed all by himself until Zak wormed his way in there.
Rory joined them afterwards.
However it happened, it still makes for some super cute photos.
All right, Rory…you can go back to sleep now.
Izaak was the first cat who befriended Dashiell when he first arrived, and they both eat all their meals together in our bedroom.
As such, these two boys have a very special bond. I was walking past the bedroom yesterday and saw these two snuggled up together.
It wasn’t after a meal or anything…they were just hanging out together on the bed.
They are so cute together…and this is way easier to get photos of than when they’re chasing each other through the house at top speed!
Dashiell and Izaak eat together in our bedroom. Breakfast, chicken neck snacktime, and dinner, those two always dine together. This is because, for whatever reason, Dash doesn’t try to steal Zak’s food (the way Alfred or Lorelai would), and since Zak only eats raw, he won’t try to eat Dash’s meal.
This is one of the reasons this pair are such fast friends. When the other three cats are done eating, and I open the bedroom up, I often find them cuddling together, sometimes on our bed, and sometimes in this fuzzy pink cat bed we won at a cat show.
It’s pretty girly. We thought it might be good for Rory, but she never sleeps in there. Angel does sometimes, but it’s mainly Zak and Dash who nap in that bed. The bed also has the white blanket that was in Zak’s crate when he came here from Poland, so that may be part of the attraction.
Who says boys can’t rock the pink?
It all started so innocently…
…Alfred and Izaak were cuddling on the sofa, and Freddy lazily started to groom Zak.
And then Zak started grooming Freddy in return.
It was so sweet. It reminded me of Freddy with Logan.
I mean, okay, they are a year apart in age, so not quite “brothers from another mother” the way Freddy was with Logan…
…but at least Freddy still has a Singa pal who’s fun to be with.
Zak, of course, loves all the Abys in the house. He happily cuddles with everyone.
However, all of a sudden things took a turn. Freddy started to groom Zak a little…
Zak had had enough! He way weigh around three pounds less than Freddy does…
…but with true Singapura stubborness, Zak can stand up to anyone when enough is enough!
Working on various Photoshop projects today, at one point I looked over and noticed that all the boys were piled at one end of the sofa.
Alfred, Izaak and Dashiell were all napping in a heap at the far end.
It was pretty adorable.
I mean, look at them1
Totally a band of brothers.
Meanwhile, Lorelai was napping on the right side of the sofa.
Pretty much as far away as she could get from the boys whilst still being on the sofa.
But she was happy on her “no boys allowed” side of the couch.
Nice teeth, Rory!
Alfred is the most cuddly cat I have ever met.
When he’s in a mood, he will not leave you alone.
He has places and times where he is annoyingly clingy.
One of these times is after we’ve eaten dinner and we’re watching TV.
The other time is when I am reading in bed after waking up in the morning.
It would be a lot nicer to cuddle with him if he wasn’t so drooly, though…
We won a brown domed cat bed by Dogman at a cat show a few years ago. Angel immediately claimed it as her own, and for the most part, all the other cats respect her ownership.
Except, of course, Logan, and, later, Izaak, at least when he was younger.
Or so I thought.
A couple of weeks ago, I found Zak in Angel’s bed. With Angel still in it.
So it’s still happening, even though Zak’s an adult who weighs the same as Angel does.
But the part that really made me laugh?
Angel has apparently just given up and resigned herself to sharing her bed at the whims of a stubborn Singapura.
Alfred and Logan were truly “Brothers from another mother,” and when Logan died so young and so suddenly, poor Freddy was probably the most affected by our loss.
Lorelai’s arrival a month after Logan’s death helped Freddy cope. But then when Izaak joined our family a month and a half after Rory, it took Freddy a little while to accept little Zakky.
As Singapuras are wont to do, Zak kept cuddling up to Freddy in spite of Fred’s opinion. Fast forward almost a year, and Freddy and Zak are usually found cuddled up together…especially on my legs whilst I’m asleep.
Another of their favourite napping spots, especially on sunny afternoons, is on the couch in Kalle’s room.
Okay, so Freddy and Zak aren’t the bonded pair that Freddy and Logan were…partly because Zakky loves everyone in his way. He’s also closely bonded with Lorelai, of course, and he had an…interesting…relationship with Jacoby. I’ve even caught Angel playing with him! But Freddy and Zak have their own special connection, being the two boys in the house.
“I can make anybody love me! So there!”
I always think about Alfred and his “Brother from Another Mother,” Logan.
These photos are from July 2017, a month after we introduced Logan to Freddy.
They bonded after only a couple of days.
But their bond was deep. I called them “Brothers from Another Mother.” But they really were.
I mean, just look at them!
Logan and Freddy were so attached to each other.
They were so in sync with each other, too. You can see how bonded they were from these photos, taken only a month after we introduced them.
One thing Freddy liked to do was hold Logan down to groom him.
Whilst Izaak is not Logan, and it’s taken Freddy some time to accept Zak…
…it seems that Freddy needs a Singapura brother to take care of and look after.
It’s not the extreme “brothers from another mother” love that Freddy had with Logan, but…
…Zak seems to be an acceptable surrogate for Freddy’s Singapura fixation.
At least, until Zak has had enough of Freddy’s “brotherly” love.
I guess that’s the difference between Logan and Zak…Logan grew up with Big Brother Freddy, and Zak…didn’t. But he tolerates Freddy’s attention well. Enough.
