If you haven’t seen the hilariously bad “professionally” retouched family photos a woman posted on her Facebook account last week, you just might want to click those two hyperlinks above and take a look.
And, of course, some clever person figured out how to get this hot new Photoshop look that’s trending right now. A Finnish Photoshop expert created a tutorial on how to recreate the captivating and bewitching look. Well, I’m always up for a good Photoshop challenge (like the Woodpecker, Snowmobile, and Man Bun memes), so I thought I would try it on Jacoby and Angel. I took this photo of Jake (appropriately enough, on the ferry leaving Helsinki) and created the masterpiece at the top of this post
I couldn’t find a brightly-lit photo of Angel’s face, so I used this one of her in a tree:
And I came up with this:
I don’t think it works quite as well with cats as it does with humans, because the unretouched hair is part of what make the faces look so…odd. I tried get the same effect with the ears, but it’s just not quite the same.
There were many factors that kept me from posting for the year and a half after moving to Sweden. One was, of course, the predictable shock of moving to another country with another language. But something happened in November of 2016, after I had been in Sweden not even five months.
American non-voters disappointed the world. I am, officially as an ex-pat, a Massachusetts resident, I vote as a Massachusetts resident, and Massachusetts is the bluest state in the USA. Elizabeth Warren is my homegirl.
Needless to say, I have been appalled at what has been happening in the US since last November, and for several month I spent most of my computer time reading the news instead of working on photos for my blog.
So, when I groomed Jacoby at a cat show and had some leftover hair…I decided to use it to make a point. Or something.
Those of you who remember the last time I posted on a Saturday may recall that I was a participant in the Saturday Photo Hunt. Each week bloggers would be given a word to portray with a photo. It was a fun little challenge, but, sadly, the last word was Saturday, 31 December…2016.
So. There goes my easy Saturday topic! I am working on a series of posts about our flight to Sweden, but it’s going to take me some time; that will start next Saturday.
So…let’s have Silly Saturday today, shall we? I saw the above meme posted on Facebook somewhere and I absolutely cracked up, for obvious reasons. So as soon as I could, I found me some googly eyes. Yellow, of course.
Unfortunately, even the largest ones I was able to find were still too small. And, well, there wasn’t a really good way to keep it on her face. I tried Scotch tape, and then duct tape, but neither one worked. I was barely able to keep it on long enough to snap this photo.
So I had to resort to my good old friend Photoshop. Much better.
While going through my photos from the New Year’s party Björn and I threw, I discovered these photos of mini-Jacoby and the bottle of Canadian Crown I’d brought Björn for Christmas.
I did not take these photos! I’m not sure how they got on my camera.
That was a brand-new bottle, though, when I brought it from Boston…now look at it!
Oh my stars and whiskers…I am so sorry not being on my computer as often as usual! I actually think I need to take a short vacation from posting. Not sure how long I need, but don’t worry, you’ll still get your promised “Daily Abyssinian” for each day…it’ll just take me a few days. A lot of things are happening all at once this month! Big things. I thought I had post pre-scheduled. I promise to tell you everything just as soon as I’m not afraid of jinxing it. And I have some concrete things to tell you. Although I might be able to send you hints if you follow my Twitter!
I promise I’ll be over this ASAP, so in the meantime here’s Jacoby at Fanaeui hall wth a British redcoat!
