I honestly don’t know how this can possibly be a comfortable way to sleep. And yet, Lorelai sleeps like this a lot.
She also sleeps with her eyes a little bit open sometimes. That’s just creepy.
As I mentioned a couple of weeks ago, one of Dashiell’s favourite afternoon napping spots is at the end of the sofa.
He’s a big, gangly yearling, but he manages to get his legs rolled up in a tight ball.
…And, the camera woke him up. Sorry, Dash!
Izaak and Dashiell spend a lot of time in the bedroom, since they eat their meals and chicken necks in there. And after they finish, they snuggle under the comforters.
Zak generally naps on top of the covers (he prefers to sleep under the covers when humans are there.
Dash likes to sleep under the comforters, which is easy since we have the Scandinavian double duvet system.
And Dash is so damn cute when he comes out from underneath.
I mean, just look!
What’s funny is, Jacoby used to like to sleep under the covers like that, too. It’s kind of nice.
Jacoby used to love sleeping underneath the comforters, especially in cold weather.
One afternoon, five days before Jake died, I came upon the sweetest scene ever. Lorelai had joined Jake on the bed, and was cuddling with the part of his that wasn’t under the quilt.
They hadn’t been the closest of cats, and, of course, we didn’t know Jake was going to die within the week. It was so sweet to see them close.
Lorelai is elegant, lithe, and graceful…When’s she’s awake.
Sleeping? Not so much.
And she’s always been that way, actually. The first two photos were taken this week.
But the rest of the photos in this post were taken last July, when Rory had only been living with us a couple of months.
She really folds herself into some interesting positions.
But she seems to sleep deeply, despite her contortions.
Of course, she doesn’t always sleep alone.
Today is also Izaak’s Gotcha Day…last year, on 20 June, I went to Stockholm to collect him. So, sometimes Rory has to share her sleeping quarters with her little big brother.
While he is not quite as…stretchy and bendy…Rory is, he can sleep in some pretty odd positions, too.
Sometimes cats are so funny.
Clearly, Izaak thought that this was the best way to cuddle with Alfred. It doesn’t look either cuddly or comfortable for either party…but neither of them seemed to mind.
They worked out the comfort thing eventually, though.
Lorelai and Zak never have that problem. I guess it’s a size thing.
A couple of weeks ago, our friend Summer posted about her bedtime rituals, and it looked like it would be a fun thing to post about, so here we go.
We don’t really have rituals, per se, but Jacoby always sleeps in bed with us. Sometimes Alfred joins us.
And before Logan became a man, as it were, he would sleep with us, too.
I think he really misses it. He is a great cuddler.
Jake may not always get along with Freddy and Logan, but the bed is his place, and he tolerates them when we’re all in bed. I’ve even caught Jake cuddling with Freddy!
But I think Jake is happiest when he has the bed all to himself. With or without me.
When he has to share, he has to be ON me.
I got this cute little rechargeable nightlight for my bed.
It’s a little round ball of light, USB chargeable, and it has the option of throwing cool or warm light.
The light is really quite nice, and it gives off no heat.
Perfect for use around cats.
One recent evening, Jacoby and I were just hanging out, and I was intrigued by his interaction with the light.
I also thought it would be interesting to see what Hipstamatic would do with the light poses.
It was not a dissapointment. Sometimes the simplest set-ups make the prettiest photos.
This week’s Photo Hunt subject is “Flip.”
It’s starting to get warm in Boston, and my bedroom hasn’t got the greatest air circulation, so I keep my little Vornado Zippi fan running at night while I sleep.
Jacoby sleeps with me most nights, and he thinks the fan is pretty cool.
In fact, he finds it fascinating.
It’s like the best cat toy ever.
He likes to stop the soft cloth blades. They don’t hurt at all.
Although sometimes, it seems they do sting his paws, so he has to stop and lick them.
But then…
…he’s right back at it, smacking my fan.
Or biting it. Biting is good, too.
It’s like a game. If he catches it and makes it stop, he wins.
And if he flips it over…? Bonus points! And in case you were wondering…why, yes, does it makes a lot of noise! And he does it a LOT! It’s like his version of playing with the boingy door thing. Siiigghhhh…
This week’s Photo Hunt subject is “Now.”
This is what’s happening right now.
Yes, you are seeing correctly…Jacoby and Angel are almost sleeping together on the bed!
She’s on the blanket, and he’s under it…
…But still. For them, this is cuddling!
