Aby-a-Day – 26 January: Work in Progress (Cartoon Tuesday)

I’ve been postponing showing you all this one because I swore I’d finish it…but that was almost 8 months ago, so I thought I’d at least show you the sketch.

This goes back to when I met our friend Summer last May at BlogPaws.

As you may recall, I wasn’t allowed to bring Jacoby with me.

So I had to bring Flat Jake instead. This cartoon – which I had been planning to do about Jake and Summer finally meeting – is the result.

In some respect, Jake not going to BlogPaws is the reason I haven’t actually been able to finish this cartoon. Ever since I came back, things have been rather…interesting. But you know all about that.

Aby-a-Day – June 22: Colourful tiny cats (Miniature Monday)

At the BlogPaws Cat Style Lounge DIY craft table on Thursday night, I took the Russian Jacoby ball-jointed doll with me just for fun. While I was making fun cat glasses, he was playing with other miniature kittens.

What’s really funny is…on the Hauspanther site, among the collection of photos from BlogPaws, you can see my arms, one leg, and my camera at the craft table! Wow…I’m…tangentially famous!

Aby-a-Day – June 14: Technical difficulties and then some (Selfie Sunday)

I know my blog’s been a bit spotty lately…a couple of late posts…skipped cartoons (fair warning, that’s going to happen again this week). I apologise for that.

Part of it is Flickr. I’ve been having a lot of trouble getting photos to upload for some reason lately. I’m not sure what it is. I tried using their Uploadr app, but it doesn’t seem to do any better, and the names of the photos don’t carry over so every photo is “untitled.”

I’m not sure why exactly, but lately my life has just gotten a lot more hectic than usual. I’m still shooting for a post a day, because this is “The Daily Abyssinian.” I just fell behind this weekend.

These are from when I got home from BlogPaws. I missed my Jakeman so much! I really wish he could have come with me.

Aby-a-Day – June 8: Checking out the Cat Style Lounge at Blog Paws (Miniature Monday)

If you saw Summer’s blog post last week, you saw her photos at the Hauspanther Cat Style Lounge.

Well, since I wasn’t able to bring Jacoby with me, I had to visit the Hauspanther lounge with Jake’s mini-me.

Untitled

But I think he enjoyed it at least as much as the real Jake would have.

Untitled

The first stop were the Pet Tree Houses with leaves.

I absolutely love these trees. I wish I could fit one in my apartment. Especially with the autumn foliage. Besides looking pretty, they also are very well built.

Next we played with the Jackson Galaxy Cat Crawl.

And then we checked out the Jackson Galaxy Comfy Cocoon.

Untitled

CatastrophiCreations, an Etsy store, makes some awesome cat climbers, like this amazing Indiana Jones rope bridge…

…and this system of wall furniture that can be adapted and customised to your cats and your walls.

Untitled

Next we checked out the ökocat litter display…but the resident flat cat didn’t seem to approve. I’m just glad that Rufus wasn’t there. That cat creeps me out (even if he does look a bit like an Aby).

Untitled

This Vesper Tower cubby had such a fluffy lining!

Untitled

The Vesper V-Cube is really elegant too.

Untitled

I really loved My Katio which can hold a litter box or just be a little mini-porch for kitties. I just don’t think my building would allow them since we have central air conditioning rather than window-mounted AC.

Untitled

I can’t for the life of me remember who made this cat tree. I can’t find it on Hauspanther’s style guide. It was awesome, though.

Untitled

Untitled

I really liked the Cattino cat-shaped, all-in-one cat centre. It has a bed and a scratcher in one compact, cat-shaped package!

Untitled

The PurrfecTower trees were amazing. I could totally see one of these in my apartment.

Untitled

Finally we checked out the CatIt Wellness Center

Untitled

Mini-Jake seemed to really enjoy it. I may need to get one for big Jake!

Untitled

When we were done playing with all the toys, we hung out at the Hauspanther craft table.

Untitled

There were little cardboard cat toys scattered everywhere.

Untitled

We even got to meet the lovely and amazing Kate Benjamin! I was flattered that she had heard of me!

Untitled

Finally, just for fun, here’s me with mini-Jake. My dress is from Modcloth and I just adore it.

But you can see I really missed having Jake with me. He would have loved all this.

Aby-a-Day – June 3: Summer’s Meet and Greet

On Friday night, Summer the Somali had a party in her hotel room and invited all her friends.

Untitled

I got to meet a lot of other cat bloggers including the people behind GloGirly, Sometimes Cats Herd You, and Random Felines, among others.

Untitled

Summer and her human were wonderful hostesses.

Untitled

Not only was there champagne, but there were Hello Kitty party favours for everyone!

Untitled

Untitled

Summer kept one of the Slinkies for herself, though.

Untitled

I thought this was cool: Look at Summer’s bowl! It’s an Aby! It was a gift from her breeder.

Untitled

Summer reminded me so much of Jacoby! Somalis and Abys are so much alike…Somalis are just floofier! I know I said that the other day, but I was just fascinated with what ruddy fur looks like when it’s long.

Summer reminded me so much of Jake that I had to check in on him with the PetCube! Can you see him and Angel in my art room?

Aby-a-Day – June 1: Flying the friendly skies (Miniature Monday)

My flight to BlogPaws was quite pleasant, apart from the fact that I was all on my own.

minijakeloganC01012

Of course, I wanted to bring Jacoby with me, but since I wasn’t able to do that, I did the next best thing.

minijakeloganC01011

I brought along the ball-jointed doll Ana Von Borowsky made me.

minijakeloganC01007

minijakeloganC01009

He was a lovely travel companion.

minijakeloganC01002

We went to the Logan play park and played with the toy airplane.

minijakeAVBairplaneIMG_7828

He was very well-behaved on the flight, too.

minijakeAVBairplaneIMG_7829

He looked out the window.

minijakeAVBairplaneIMG_7830

Then he settled down and watched Chi’s Sweet Home videos with me.

minijakeAVBairplaneIMG_7832

He was great company!
