You know those ads for customisable T-shirts on Facebook? Well, I clicked on one. And then I made a shirt…”just to see what it would look like.”
Yeah, right.
Well, it came on Wednesday. I love it…I am particularly fond of the way Alfred looks.

Björn and I went to Copenhagen for a short holiday last week. We stayed in a nice (but HOT) hotel right next to Copenhagen’s Central Station. It was a perfect location, walking distance to everything, close to everything…including the famous Tivoli Gardens. It opened on 15 August 1843 and is the second-oldest operating amusement park in the world (the oldest is also in Denmark. Apart from having the oldest wooden roller coaster, it has shows, Halloween and Christmas festivals, fireworks, an adjacent hotel, and a number of restaurants and shops.
Including the only Build-a-Bear store in Scandinavia.
As you may recall, Jacoby loved going to the Build-a-Bear shop in Faneuil Hall, so when I saw souvenir T-shirts there, I knew I had to get him one.
It’s been a while since Jake’s worn any of his outfits, but as you can see, he’s still got it!
I am really late on this…but I wanted to thank my friend Kim for sending me Canadian Care Package a little while back.
She sent me a ton of awesome Royal Canin swag! The promotional items Royal Canin has in Canada tend to be a lot better than the stuff we get in the States.
One thing she sent was this awesome Kitten Kit.
We can actually use this because Kylie is a super picky eater, but she likes Royal Canin. She can also eat kitten food because she can use the calories. And another lid for leftover canned food always comes in handy.
Kim also sent me Volume 4 of the Royal Canin Cat Encyclopedia. This was especially wonderful, because I already have Volume 1, which features Abyssinians.
Volume 4 features Somalis. So now I have both the Aby-related volumes!
She also sent this cute little black cat face…
…that expands into this adorable shopping bag! Look at the little fish bones!
I was super excited to find this in the bag…Teddy Bear Peanut Butter!!! If you’ve never been to Canada, you may not understand. I can’t explain it, but it is the best peanut butter in the world. And this came with a recipe, a bear-shaped plastic cookie cutter and a jar to put the cookies in! This is also my first encounter with the new “Creepy Bear” label design…
Of course Kim also sent some goodies for Jacoby. She sent him two bandanas…
…and a T-shirt!
He’s already modelled a Royal Canin bandana, so I decked him out with the maple leaf one, along with his new T-shirt.
He had possession of the Finnish cat bed (which is the most popular bed in the house right now), and he didn’t want to leave it for a photo shoot because he was afraid of losing it.
So, here he is modelling his Canadian outfit from Kim in his Finnish bed from Sanna.
Thank you so much, Kim!
This is not actually based on the (in)famous Three Wolf Moon T-shirt. It’s actually based on the even more awesome Three Grumpy Cat Moon T-shirt and the equally hilarious (if slightly illegal) Three Keyboard Cat Moon T-shirt.
It had to be done. And I am going to try to get a shirt made, too. I’m holding my breath to see if Zazzle will let me make this – if they do, I’ll try to make a version for sale:
The moon background is actually two different moon photos by Moon-WillowStock on DeviantArt.

You may remember that last fall I posted about my friend Lee’s marvelous cat embroidery. Well, she’s just gotten some new Abyssinian patterns and has some wonderful new items in her inventory.
Like this wonderful memorial pillow! They come in many colours and they’re wonderful – I have a pair on our sofa already (and now I have three).
She’s also got a range of embroidered shirts, towels, pot holders and tote bags available in both her online store and eBay. Check them out – they are really wonderful.
Remember, I have her embroidery on my therapy shirts…now, we just have to get back to visiting…
Before you can go outside in cold weather, it’s essential to dress properly for the weather.
Layers are the key to keeping your core temperature up and trapping heat to keep warm.
When we went out into the snow, Jacoby wore his green leopard print shirt since it works so well with his coat.
I put his harness on over his undershirt, but under his warm coat. This helps to keep the warmth in, especially since his Fishtail Parka hasn’t got a hole for a leash.
Angel had never been in the snow, so I used her purple Pirate Kitty T-shirt to keep her warm.
Like Jake, she wore her harness over the T-shirt.
Despite her early socialisation issues, in some ways, Angel is 100% Abyssinian.
Wearing a T-shirt doesn’t faze her at all.
Once we had the undergarments on, we put on our coats and headed outside. Angel wore Gun-Hee’s old parka, which not only fit her wonderfully, but also has a hole for the leash which lines up perfectly with her harness.
That helped to keep her a little warmer, since the leash wasn’t pulling up the back of her coat the way Jake’s leash pulled his parka up. You can see his undershirt in this photo.
Of course, his feet were warmer than Angel’s, because he will wear boots, so it probably evened out. I had boots for Angel but…I didn’t try to put them on her feet. I think the parka was enough for her! I think they stayed fairly warm. We weren’t outside very long, but neither of them was shivering or seemed uncomfortable. When we came back inside, the tips of their ears were a little chilled, but they both seemed perfectly happy. I do want to take them both out again for some more photos once we can get into the courtyard.
It’s amazing the fun you can have with just a mirror and a camera.
I was getting ready for work the other day and Jacoby joined me in the bathroom to “help.”
So I scooped him up and took some silly photos of the two of us.
I was actually thinking of those “awkward bathroom cat selfies” you see on the internet.
Jake just can’t be awkward in front of a camera, no matter how hard I try, I guess.
By the way, you’ll notice that I am wearing my Winston “Adopt” T-shirt that I posted about last year.
My Poutine Press Abyssinian Cat Star T-Shirt came in the mail on Friday, just in time to wear to the CFF cat show!
It’s still a bit chilly here in Boston, so I needed some long sleeves. I paired it with a leopard print shirt. I think it works well.
Our friend Bille Axell took this photo of Jacoby and me. Not bad, eh?
Don’t forget to enter the contest to win an Abyssinian Cat Star T-shirt from Poutine Press! You have until this Wednesday, and so far, there’s only one entry, so it’s still anyone’s game!
As for what Jacoby should wear, well…Watching Frozen, it struck me how much like Jake the hero Saami character, Kristoff, is…so I sketched him dressed in Kristoff’s costume.
(The name Jouko comes from the Finngenerator, which tells you your Finnish name; it’s short for Joukahainen, who is the rival of Väinämöinen in the Kalevala.)
Here is Jacoby modelling his new braided leather tag collar with the gold metallic knots and his Arja’s Art Finnish harness made of soft metallic copper leather.
Don’t they look well together, Jake asks.
Remember my post last week about Poutine Press’ fabulous Aby T-shirt? Well, Simon and Sarah have graciously offered to send an Aby Star T-shirt to one lucky reader!
They’re shipping first from Montreal, and then from Boston, so they’ll take a week or two, but if you are the winner you can select your size, so that’s worth the wait! All you have do to win this amazing shirt is…(drumroll please)…describe an outfit you would like to see Jake wear someday. Illustrations are welcome. The outfit that amuses and inspires me the most will win!
Deadline for entries is next Wednesday, March 26. Good luck and have fun!
Because who doesn’t need a fabulous chocolate brown Aby T-shirt?
This awesome shirt ships worldwide from Montreal, Quebec. Poutine Press not only makes an entire line of cat (and dog) breed T-shirts, but they also make clothes for your pet! And their hockey and science shirts are pretty sweet, too. And, you can get 10% with the coupon code DEXTER10!
Well, the cat on this T-shirt from Hot Topic looks suspiciously like an Aby to me:
And, I don’t know how long it’s good for (the website says “limited time only,” but all T-shirts ordered online are 25% off with the promo code TEES25. Such a bargain!
I’m involved in a new local CFA cat club that was born during and named after the huge blizzard and cat show we had back in February.
We’re the New England Meow Outfit (N.E.M.O.), and we’re having our first show on Columbus Day weekend in the very same hotel in Sturbridge. I designed the logo, and we’ve got it for sale on everything you can imagine in our Zazzle store.
And, to that end…
…of course there’s a cat-sized version of our iconic T-shirt!
And of course Jacoby loves his new T-shirt.
What’s not to love? It’s stylish, it’s comfortable, and it fits nicely. What else do you need in a T-shirt?
After last week’s post about Forever 21’s Aby T-shirt, Texas and his human pointed out that H&M has a T-Shirt with Abys on it, too.
And it is AWESOME. But try to get it from H&M…it’s only $17.99, but someone on eBay is trying to sell them for $49.99 plus shipping!
And speaking of things that are awesome…not sure how I missed random blog post from 2010 about celebrities and their Abyssinians…but check it out!
I knew about these photos of Nicolas Cage and David Bowie with Abys, but…
…I didn’t know about Carly Simon and Nicole Ritchie!
Not to mention, Viggo Mortensen! See? Abys are always in fashion.
Pellburn Jacoby Stealin’ Home is wearing Boston today.
There’s a couple of Facebook groups dedicated to the Wear Boston movement, and it’s pretty cool to see all the participants’ photos. Of course, Strollercat is among them! (You may need to log into Facebook to see them, I’m afraid.) And now that they know who did it, it’s been a little crazy in Boston Metro today.
And you can help Boston, too: Local company RueLaLa is selling exclusive Honoring Boston T-shirts to raise money for MGH’s Emergency Medicine Fund. As they explain on their website: “We will donate all net proceeds from the sale of this Honoring Boston tee to the Emergency Medicine Fund at Massachusetts General Hospital, which supports the patients and families affected by the Boston Marathon tragedy. This item will be shipped to you standard with our compliments” It’s a limited time shirt, though, so if you want one you’ll have to move quickly. I’ve asked them if they make them in cat sizes, because Strollercat needs one, too! Haven’t heard back, yet…
We’ll return to our regularly scheduled blog after a few words from our sponsors…
I got my calendars from Zazzle this week! And I have to say, I’m hugely impressed.
I honestly don’t have a favourite. They’re both awesome. Since this is the first year I’ve done regular cartoons, this is my first cartoon calendar, and I’m really happy with how it came out.
Angel seems to prefer the art calendar…
…while Jacoby seems partial to the cartoon calendar.
Personally, I love the colourful and unconventional way the date part of the calendar is presented. That’s something that Zazzle offered in the design process. I think it’s wonderful – such a nice change from the usual black-and-white grid.
I also got my #Strollercat T-shirt, and…WOW. The design turned out AMAZING. It’s bright, and whatever process they used to print it on the shirt is really nice. I can tell I’m going to be wearing this shirt a lot. But what does Jake think of his shirt..?
He loves it!
Best of all, Zazzle is having a huge Veterans/ Rememberance Day sale this weekend! They have incredible bargains: 50% off calendars, invitations, greeting cards, photo cards, and postcards; 40% off ornaments; 30% off mugs; 20% off T-shirts (not including screen-printed apparel); and 15% off other Zazzle products from now through November 12, 2012 at 11:59 PM PST. That’s four days to stock up on all your Daily Abyssinian needs for cheap! So check out my Zazzle store today!
If you want a photo or cartoon on something in particular, drop me a line. I can create a listing for any image on any item; it doesn’t take long at all, but I don’t know what people will find most popular. I can also set custom items up in my CafePress store and I will have a different Strollercat shirt design (and stickers and buttons!) available there soon.
As Sparkle says…hey, a cat’s gotta eat!
Is there anything so cool as a punk rock hoodie with a faux-hawk?
If there is, I’d like to know what it is.
Black…check. Red plaid…check.
But you know what the best thing about this hoodie is?
(Besides the little earholes in the hood, I mean)
And, speaking of great fashion deals where you’d least expect them…
Remember this awesome Aby face T-shirt I posted about in July? Well, I found it on sale today! At BaxterBoo.com, of all places! I love BaxterBoo; Jacoby has some amazing coats and other clothes from there. But I never expected to find human clothing there! They have a great range of sizes in stock, too, according to the site: Small through 3XL! And, even better, if you order before October 21, promocode “WarmFuzzies25off” gets you an extra 25% off.
It’s a pretty bleak September here in Boston.
This is a town that defines itself by its sports teams, especially the Red Sox. In April, we had a promising team, a new manager, it was Fenway’s 100th birthday, and things were looking pretty great.
But now, less than a month til the start of the World Series playoffs, about half the guys we started out with now play for other teams, our manager is on the cover of Sports Illustrated because, basically, he sucks, and the hated Yankees are at the top of the standings while the Red Sox are in a neck-and-neck battle for last place with the Toronto Blue Jays.
Time for the cat named after one of the few players who hasn’t disappointed us to put on his anti-Yankees T-shirt.
We found this T-shirt at Fanieul Hall when we went back in July. It’s meant to be a dog shirt, hence the bones, but I think they work as a kind of skull-and-crossbones thing, too.
It’s also super-appropriate since Jacoby was named after a guy who stole home against the Yankees; it gives the word “bite” a little more…well, bite.
And you know what they say…”There’s always next year.”
This doesn’t happen very often, but I Can Has Cheezburger is offering a reprint of one of my favourite T-shirts:
You may recall, I posted about this a year and a half ago, when it first came out. I love this shirt so much; it’s just so perfect for an Aby slave person.
Get the reprint of “Your Offering Pleases Me” for $15 including shipping now! They’re closing orders on September 3rd, and they may not bring it back again.
